Strongest indica strains: THC levels and customer reviews

General topicsstrongest indica strains

The strongest indica strains are the ones with high THC and a heavy, relaxing body effect. From our own range, Pot of Gold, OG Kush XTRM, Mangolicious, Candy Kush and White Widow Extreme are five we can confirm are strong from our own experience. Below you'll find what makes an indica strong, the THC levels we list for each of these five, and what our customers said about them.

What makes an indica strain strong?

Mostly THC. The more THC a strain has, the stronger the high usually is. THC isn't the whole picture, though: how a strain feels also depends on the rest of its make-up, on how much you take and on your own tolerance.

The indica label itself is a loose guide. A 2022 study of about 90,000 samples found that indica, sativa and hybrid labels did not reliably match the terpene profiles of the products (Smith et al., PLOS One 2022). If you want to know more about one of the best-known indica lines, read our post on the origins of Kush.

THC levels: what the numbers mean

THC is the main compound in cannabis that gets you high. At seed shops, including ours, THC is listed as a percentage, usually as "up to" a figure. It is the top figure for that strain, not a promise for every plant.

Looking for the highest figures? Our very high THC collection is the place to look.

5 strong indica strains from our range

The THC levels below are the figures we list on each product page. The quotes come from customers who reviewed our seeds on Trustpilot, back when Trustpilot still listed cannabis businesses.

1. Pot of Gold

THC up to 23%.

"Pot of Gold is everything I need after a stressful day. The buds are beautiful, full of resin, and the effect is deeply relaxing. Perfect for winding down!" (Jake M., customer review)

2. OG Kush XTRM

THC up to 21%.

"OG Kush XTRM delivers some of the best indica effects I've ever experienced. Perfect for chilling at night and clearing my mind." (Sarah W., customer review)

3. Mangolicious

THC up to 18% for the regular seeds. Lower on paper than the others here, but one customer says it hits hard.

"This strain is insane! The tropical flavor is amazing, and it hits hard. One of my all-time favorites." (Marcus L., customer review)

4. Candy Kush

THC up to 23%. One reviewer calls it an evening strain.

"Candy Kush is the perfect evening strain. Great for unwinding, and the sweet taste is a huge bonus!" (David R., customer review)

5. White Widow Extreme

THC up to 25%, the highest of these five.

"I've been growing White Widow XTRM for years, and it never disappoints. Smooth high, potent effects, and great yields!" (Laura D., customer review)

Before you try a strong indica

Start low

If you're new to cannabis or used to milder strains, take a small amount and wait before having more. Strong indicas can easily leave you stuck on the sofa; our post on couch-lock has more on that.

Know the common side effects

Too much can bring dry mouth, dry eyes or dizziness. Drink water, stay somewhere comfortable and don't take more than you're used to.

Don't drive

Never drive or do anything that needs your full attention after using a strong strain.

Questions about strong indica strains

Are strong indicas a good choice for beginners?

Not to start with. Begin with a milder strain or a very small amount, and work up from there.
