Regular Cannabis Seeds

Regular cannabis seeds are untreated, not feminized, so a batch gives you male and female plants in roughly equal numbers. Growers choose them to breed their own seeds, to keep a mother plant, or to work with classic genetics. Strain, THC level, flowering time and plant size are shown on each product page, and the guide below explains sexing and breeding.

Regular cannabis seeds are a great option for growers who want the best of both worlds. They produce a mix of male and female plants, which allows you to choose the gender of your plants and create your own strains.

Our regular cannabis seeds are sourced from the best breeders in the world and are guaranteed to germinate. We also offer a satisfaction guarantee on all of our products.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced grower, we have the perfect regular cannabis seeds for you. Shop our selection today and start growing your own cannabis plants!

    What are regular cannabis seeds?

A regular seed is an untreated cannabis seed that grows into either a male or a female plant, roughly half each. Nothing has been done to change its sex, which is how cannabis seeds were sold before feminized seeds existed.

The female plants produce the flowers that are harvested. The male plants produce pollen. Growers who only want flower remove the males as soon as they identify them, and growers who want seeds keep a male and pollinate selected females.

Our regular range spans indica, sativa and hybrid strains, with a mix of classics and newer lines.

Most are listed with a fast flowering time of 6 to 10 weeks, and a smaller group at 8 to 12 weeks. THC is an "up to" figure that runs from the mid teens to the mid 20s. Plant size and difficulty are on each product page.

For a first look, try White Widow regular at up to 25 percent THC, Thai Skunk, rated easy to moderate, or Skunk Red Hair, rated easy.

Regular or feminized seeds: which should you buy?

Buy regular seeds if you want to breed, keep a mother plant, or pick the best female from a more varied group. Buy feminized seeds if you only want to harvest flower. A regular seed is not a feminized seed with a different label, so a pack of regular seeds will always contain males.

Our feminized seeds give mostly females from the start. "Regular feminized seeds" is a mix-up of two terms: pick feminized for mostly females, regular for both sexes.

How do you tell a male from a female cannabis plant?

Look at the nodes, where the branches meet the main stem. Plants show their first pre-flowers late in the vegetative stage. A male grows small round pollen sacs, and a female grows a pair of thin white hairs called pistils. After you switch to a 12-hour light schedule the sex is usually clear within the first one to two weeks.

Check every few days. A male that opens its sacs near the females can pollinate the whole room.

Why plant more regular seeds than you need

Half the batch will be male, so plan for it. If you want four females, start at least eight seeds. Use small pots at first, so you can move the plants and separate them once their sex shows.

The extra seeds give you room to choose the strongest females. Regular seeds fit best into a grow with spare room and a flexible schedule.

    Using males for breeding

Breeding starts with picking a male and a female you like and keeping them apart from the rest. Pollen travels on air and on clothes, so isolate the male in a separate room and wash your hands and clothes before you go back to the females.

Many breeders pollinate only one branch of a female so the rest of the plant keeps making flower. Label every cross. A regular pack is also where you start if you want to keep a mother plant, take cuttings and grow identical copies of the best female.

Keeping a mother plant from regular seeds

A mother plant is a female you keep in the vegetative stage and take cuttings from. Regular seeds suit this because you can grow several females from one pack and choose the one with the best structure and smell. Once she has shown her sex, keep her under 18 hours of light and clone her before you flower the rest.

Are regular seeds better for breeding than feminized ones?

Yes, for breeding: a regular pack gives you both sexes and some variation to select from. That does not make feminized seeds unreliable. Both work well, and the choice is about what you want to do with the plants. For plain growing, feminized seeds are less work.

Buying regular seeds from the US, UK or Australia

Regular seeds are shipped the same way as everything else we sell. The payments and shipping page explains how orders reach different countries, and the shipping terms cover insurance. Please check your local law before you order.

Failed seeds are covered by our germination guarantee. The germination guide and the grow guide walk through the first days and each growth stage.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between regular and feminized seeds?

Regular seeds give a mix of male and female plants, about half each. Feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants almost every time. Regular seeds suit breeding and cloning, while feminized seeds suit growers who only want flower. Regular seeds also keep the natural variation of a strain.

How many regular seeds should I plant?

Plan on about half being male. If you want four females, start at least eight seeds. Starting a few extra gives you room to choose the strongest plants, and you can remove any males once their sex is clear. Small pots at the start make it easier to move and separate the plants.

When can I tell if a regular plant is male or female?

Pre-flowers usually show at the nodes late in the vegetative stage. Once you switch to a 12-hour light schedule, the sex is normally clear within the first one to two weeks. Males show small pollen sacs and females show white hairs. Check often so males can be removed before they release pollen.

Are regular seeds good for beginners?

They can be, but they need more attention than feminized seeds because you have to find and remove the males. Beginners who only want to harvest flower usually have an easier time with feminized or autoflower seeds. If you still want regular seeds, choose a strain rated easy and start extra seeds.

Why would I choose regular seeds for breeding?

Breeding needs both sexes. Regular seeds give you males to use as pollen donors and females to pollinate, which feminized seeds cannot provide. They are also a common starting point for building a mother plant and taking clones from the best female in the batch.
