Feminized seeds, also sold as female seeds, are bred to grow female plants, the ones that produce the flowers. You do not have to pull males out of your garden. We stock a large range across indica, sativa and hybrid genetics, with the THC figure, flowering time and difficulty listed on every product page. Use the filters beside the grid to narrow the list.

Feminized marijuana seeds are bred to grow into female plants only, giving you a real shot at a bud-producing harvest from every seed you plant. Whether you're shopping for feminized weed seeds, feminized cannabis seeds, female marijuana seeds, or female cannabis seeds, they all describe the same category of seed and solve the same problem growers have dealt with for decades: seeds naturally split roughly 50/50 male and female, and only the female plants produce the flowers you're actually growing for.

Why Feminized Seeds Guarantee Female Plants

With regular seeds, you won't know a plant's sex until pre-flowering starts, often several weeks into the vegetative stage. By then you've already spent time, space, and nutrients on plants you'll need to identify and remove. Miss a male and let its pollen sacs open, and it can pollinate every female nearby, turning an entire harvest into seeded bud instead of the smokable flower you were growing for. Feminized seeds remove that risk at the source: a female plant is induced to produce pollen (commonly via colloidal silver or rodelization) without a male ever being involved, so the resulting seeds carry only female genetics and grow into female plants with close to 100% reliability. For small and indoor grows especially, where every plant and every square foot matters, that certainty is the entire appeal.

Feminized Seeds Indoor vs Outdoor

Feminized seeds suit both setups well. Indoors, where tent or room space is fixed, not having to identify and cull suspected males means every seedling you start is one you can realistically harvest, making the most of a limited footprint. Outdoors, where plants often grow near other cannabis or wild hemp, feminized seeds protect against stray pollen reaching your females and seeding the buds, keeping your outdoor harvest sinsemilla (seedless) the way you intended.

Best Feminized Seeds for Beginners

If you're new to growing, feminized seeds are usually the simplest place to start. There's no need to learn how to sex a plant during pre-flower, no second-guessing borderline cases, and no wasted grow slot on a plant that was destined for the compost bin. Pair a feminized strain known for being forgiving and quick to flower, and you have a straightforward path to a first harvest worth the effort.

Are female seeds the same as feminized seeds?

Yes. Female seeds, feminized seeds and feminised seeds (the British and Australian spelling) all mean the same thing: cannabis seeds bred so that nearly every seedling grows into a female plant. Shops use the three words interchangeably. Only the female plant grows the resin-covered flowers that get harvested, which is why most growers buy them.

How feminized seeds are made

Breeders treat a female plant so that it produces pollen, then use that pollen on another female. The seeds from that cross have two female parents and, in practice, almost no male offspring. No seed company can promise a perfect 100 percent, but males are rare enough that most growers never meet one.

A male matters because, left in the grow, it pollinates the females and they put their energy into seeds instead of flower. With regular seeds you sort the males out yourself. With feminized seeds you skip that step.

A stressed female can still grow a few pollen sacs of her own, so look over the plants once a week during flowering.

The range covers indica, sativa and hybrid strains. Most list a THC figure between 20 and 25 percent (an "up to" number from the breeder) and a fast flowering time of 6 to 10 weeks. A smaller group is listed at 8 to 12 weeks and a few take longer.

Every product page shows seed type, THC, flowering time, plant size and grow difficulty. If you want a starting point, Mescalina feminized is a hybrid rated easy, Afghan feminized is an easy indica, and Strawberry Ice feminized is a tall sativa rated moderate.

Which feminized seeds are best for a first grow?

Pick a strain rated easy, with an average or compact plant size and a fast flowering time. Indica-dominant strains usually fit that profile because they stay shorter and finish sooner. Check the plant size against your tent height before you order. Our beginner seeds collection gathers easy strains in one place.

If you want to compare several strains at once, the marijuana seeds table puts them side by side.

Indica, sativa or hybrid feminized seeds?

Pick by how the plant grows. Indica strains stay short and finish early, sativa strains grow tall and take longer, and hybrids sit between the two. The effects people report differ from strain to strain, so use the type as a rough guide and read the strain description.

Each type has its own page: indica seeds for small tents, sativa seeds for height and space, and hybrid seeds for something in the middle.

How big do feminized plants get?

Most feminized strains here are average-sized, a good number are tall, and only a few are compact. Size depends on the strain and on how long you keep the plant in the vegetative stage. You control that second part yourself, so a plant kept in veg for four weeks ends up much smaller than one kept for eight.

If height is a problem, topping and tying the branches down keep the plant wide and low.

Feminized and photoperiod are different things

Feminized describes the sex of the plant. Photoperiod describes what makes it flower. Most feminized seeds grow into photoperiod plants. They stay in the vegetative stage while the light period is long, commonly 18 hours a day indoors, and start to flower when you cut the light to 12 hours a day.

Outdoors the shortening days of late summer do the same job. A longer vegetative stage gives a bigger plant and a bigger harvest, but you have to manage the light schedule yourself.

If you would rather skip that, autoflower seeds flower on their own timer. That page also compares them with feminized photoperiod plants in more detail.

Feminized seeds also work outdoors. Photoperiod plants flower when the days shorten, so pick a strain whose flowering time fits your season. Our outdoor seeds page lists strains by climate.

Feminized or regular seeds

Choose regular seeds if you want to breed your own seeds or keep a mother plant of a strain you like. Choose feminized seeds if the goal is simply to grow and harvest flower. Feminized seeds are the easier road for a first grow because nearly every plant you germinate can be harvested.

Feminized seeds on offer

Each week a few strains go on sale with an offer to buy 10 seeds and get 10 of the same strain free. The current strains are on our sale page. Prices on the individual product pages show what each pack costs.

Getting the seeds to sprout

Feminized seeds germinate like any other cannabis seed. Our germination guide covers the paper towel method and direct planting step by step, and the grow guide covers what comes after. Warmth around 22 to 25 degrees Celsius (72 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit) and steady moisture matter most in the first days. Plant the seed with the root pointing down.

Germination guarantee and shipping

Orders ship within one business day after payment is processed. If your seeds do not germinate, or they arrive crushed or damaged, tell us within 90 days of the shipping date and we send free replacement seeds of the same strain. The details are on our germination guarantee page.
