Is the hype around Cali strains justified?

Table Of Contents

The cannabis industry in California is booming, and growers are constantly coming up with new strains of the pot plant. But are these new strains any better than the older ones?

In this article, we’ll take a look at the history of marijuana in California and how it’s evolved over the years. We’ll also examine some of the most popular strains that are being grown today and see if they live up to the hype.

Cali strains and their popularity

A Cali strain is a very potent strain and is extremely popular among cannabis enthusiasts for its high potency effects and unique flavors. Often considered the gold standard of cannabis, Cali weed is renowned for its high THC levels and intense psychoactive effects. While many of these strains originated in California, they have since spread to other parts of the globe and become popular globally. Some of the most famous Cali weeds include OG Kush, Sour Diesel, Gorilla glue, Blue Dream, and Girl Scout Cookies.

Why People Love Cali Strains

There are plenty of reasons why people love Cali weed strains. For starters, the quality of weed in California is generally very high. Additionally, there are a wide variety of strains available, so people can find the perfect one to suit their needs and preferences.

Another big reason why people love Cali weed is that they tend to be very potent strains. This is great for people who want to get the most out of their weed smoking experience. Additionally, it means that people can save money by using less cannabis while still getting the same effects.

Finally, many people love Cali strains because they have a unique taste that is different from other types of cannabis. This can make smoking weed a more enjoyable experience for some people.

Overall, there are plenty of reasons why people love weed strains from California. The high quality, wide variety, and unique taste make them a great choice for anyone who wants to enjoy a good smoke.

One major thing to keep in mind when smoking Cali

Of course, you also have a negative aspect of Cali weed and certainly one that is very important to mention. All Cali weed that is sent to Europe contains the chemical PGR (Plant Growth Regulator) that ensures that the weed becomes nice and hard, which determines its popularity. But do not forget that this substance is banned almost everywhere outside the USA. This is due to health reasons. We do not know what the long-term health consequences there are and therefore do not recommend it, but of course, that is your own choice. The seeds we offer are not made using PGR, so the final result will be at least as tasty, but it will not be the same as in the coffee shop, which is selling weed that does contain PGR.

PGR (Plant Growth Regulator)

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are chemicals used to modify plant growth such as suppressing shoot growth, increasing return bloom, removing excess fruit, or altering fruit maturity.

PGR cannabis made with synthetic plant growth hormones has been linked to adverse well-being effects, including increased cancer risk. Synthetic PGRs may be carcinogenic and therefore are not appropriate for human consumption.

Is it safe to smoke PGR?

PGR cannabis can be very dangerous to people’s health, both in the long and short term, and is best avoided.

Cali vs Dutch marijuana

The BIG difference is the use of PGR (Plant Growth Regulator). We compared some USA-grown Cali genetics with PGR vs Dutch-grown Cali genetics without the use of PGR.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, so we grow and smoked it ourselves. To us, the “BIG” advance is manly optical, it looks really good, but… I usually smoke to relax and sleep. After smoking Cali weed I get very high and trippy, which would be nice for a day at the beach, but I couldn’t sleep all night. Others had similar trippy experiences. The other disadvantage we noticed is the flavor, you can taste the PGR or it’s the PGR that makes the plant taste different.

Conclusion: In general, a plant can be as good as any other plant, as long as it gets optimal conditions, and can grow to its full potential. If you don’t mind your health and you like to get a ride down the rabbit hole, Cali weed is an option.

We at AMS strongly recommend staying away from chemical PGR.

History of cannabis in California

Different strains of marijuana have been around for centuries, but it wasn’t until the mid-15th century that the flower was introduced to the Western Hemisphere. Spanish importers brought cannabis to Chile, and from there it was cultivated at several missions along the southern Pacific coast of North America. This region would eventually become California after the state’s admission into the United States in 1850.

Different cannabis strains have been grown in California for different purposes over the years. In the early days of cultivation, the flower was mostly grown for industrial hemp, fiber, and rope production. But as recreational use of weed became more popular in the state around the 1850s during the Gold Rush, cultivators began to produce different strains for this purpose.

However, following the increasing prohibitionist sentiment around cannabis use, a 1913 amendment to the Poison Act of 1907 made possession of the plant illegal. This was the first state-level law to prohibit cannabis use.

In the 1930s, the “Reefer Madness” campaign led to the criminalization of cannabis in the United States. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 was the first federal regulation of cannabis. In 1970, the act was repealed and replaced with the Controlled Substances Act, which classified cannabis as a Schedule 1 drug. At the same time, public opinion on pot use was growing in California and other parts of the country.

Medical benefits

While the debate over the legalization of marijuana rages on, there is no denying that the drug has certain medical advantages. In California, the use of marijuana is legal for both medicinal and recreational purposes. While marijuana may not be right for everyone, there is no doubt that it has helped countless Californians live happier.

The emerald triangle

The Emerald Triangle is the nickname for the three counties of Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity in Northern California. They’re called the Emerald Triangle because they’re the largest producers of weed in the United States. Mendocino County alone produces more weed than all of Hawaii, despite being less than one-fifth the size.

The Emerald Triangle has a long history of marijuana production. In the 1960s and 1970s, the region was known for its psychedelic hippie culture and became a mecca for many young people who were interested in exploring alternative lifestyles. This reputation attracted cultivators who were looking for a place to set up operations.

Since weed is still not legal under federal law, the Emerald Triangle has always been something of a legal grey area. Local and state authorities have generally turned a blind eye to cultivators, as long as they are not causing any public nuisance. This has allowed the region to develop into a major hub for marijuana production.

Today, the Emerald Triangle is home to hundreds of weed farms. Some of these are small, family-run operations, while others are large commercial ventures. The region produces a wide variety of cannabis strains, including some of the most popular and coveted varieties in the world.

Technology and advances in the cannabis industry in California

The technology and advances in weed breeding in California are helping to produce some of the highest quality pot strains in the universe. The Emerald Triangle is home to some of the finest weeds ever known. For decades, cultivators in this region have perfected their craft, developing strains that are prized for their flavor, potency, and yield. In recent years, however, the Emerald Triangle has faced stiff competition from other regions of the country, as cannabis cultivation has spread to states like Colorado and Oregon. In response, cultivators in the Emerald Triangle have stepped up their game, using cutting-edge technology to improve their crops.

One of the most important advances has been in the area of breeding. Using advanced genetic sequencing techniques, growers are now able to create new strains of cannabis that are superior to anything that has been seen before. These new strains are not only more potent and flavorful, but they also boast higher yields and greater resistance to pests and diseases. As a result, growers in the Emerald Triangle are once again producing some of the best cannabis in the world.

The impact of these advancements on the popularity of Cali weed

Cannabis growers in the Emerald Triangle are now able to create new strains of cannabis that are way better. As a result, more and more people are turning to Cali weed when they want the best possible smoking experience.

So what does this mean for the future of weed in California? It’s safe to say that the Emerald Triangle will continue to be the epicenter of high-quality cannabis for years to come. And with the ever-evolving technology at their disposal, the growers in this region will only continue to get better and better at what they do. So if you’re looking for the best cannabis in the world, there’s only one place to go: California.
