Hash is a type of cannabis extract made by separating the trichomes from the cannabis plant.
Trichomes are tiny, crystal-like particles found all over the cannabis plant, especially on the flowers. These particles contain the highest concentration of cannabinoids such as THC and CBD, as well as the terpenes that give the plant its distinct aroma.
Hash is made by separating these trichomes from the buds, leaves, and stems of the plant, and heating/pressing them to create a powerful, concentrated form of cannabis.
It usually comes in pressed blocks that vary in color. The higher quality hash will usually be golden-brown, while poorer quality hash will be slightly green due to the fact that it contains more plant matter.
There are different ways to turn marijuana into a smooth hash paste. All of them will concentrate the THC from the plant, producing hash with a THC content hovering around 40%, while the average bowl of bud only contains around 10% to 20%. Any type of marijuana can be used to create hash.
Because hash has such a higher concentration than marijuana, the physical and mental effects felt after smoking hash are much more intense.
Hash is known to have a much more cerebral effect than a physical one. After smoking hash or hash oil, the brain sharpens and becomes much more aware of everything that’s going on around you.
Associated with Marijuana
Not only will you be in tune with every sight, sound and smell within the immediate vicinity, your clearer mind will also allow you to focus inwardly and possibly even see the answers to issues or problems you’ve been struggling with.
While hash can certainly brighten the physical world for you, it can also brighten your inner attitude and bring an inner peace that’s not often associated with marijuana.
While hash is thought to produce a headier high than a physical one, when enough of it is smoked, it can certainly produce the same feelings of laziness and lack of focus that you’ll feel sometimes after smoking weed. And, because both Sativa and Indica strains of marijuana can be used to make hash, pure Indica hash will produce a more lethargic effect than hash made from a purely Sativa strain of marijuana.
Edibles for a Delicious High
Hash, similar to marijuana, can also be used for medical purposes to alleviate ailments such as nausea, lack of appetite, stress, and fatigue. Hash oil can also be used for patients that have problems with their breathing and don’t want to smoke it, and just like marijuana, hash can also be turned into edibles for a delicious high.
Since one is used to create the other, it only makes sense that marijuana and hash are going to share a lot of similarities. But once the production process has begun and marijuana has started being turned into hash, there are more differences than similarities between the two. And the one that users will find most noticeable is that hash is much more potent and therefore, results in a much more intense high.
