It’s no secret anymore that vaping is one of the safest and best ways to consume cannabis. Using a vaporizer helps you get rid of 95% of the smoke that you would normally inhale. In place of inhaling all that smoke you only get the good stuff like THC and other cannabinoids.
You may have already known about the many benefits of vaping cannabis or cannabis oil, but with so many different kinds of vaporizers on the market it can seem like a daunting task to decide which one you should buy that fits your needs. The upside with so many vaporizers on the market is that you are sure to find one that fits your lifestyle and your budget.
The first thing you should decide is whether or not you want a portable one or a desktop vape. If you only consume cannabis at home then a nice desktop unit will do you good. However, if you want a small, portable unit to use on the go then there are plenty of options out there.
Go with a dry herb vaporizer
The next thing you will have to decide is if you will want to use marijuana flowers or concentrates like oils or waxes. If you want to use both then there are some units that can accommodate that. If you’ve never experimented with concentrates then you should probably go with a dry herb vaporizer. However, if you have a high tolerance and you are a daily smoker then consider using concentrates.
Concentrates will allow you to get a much more potent hit than with dry herbs. Flowers provide for a potency of anywhere from 10%-30% concentrated THC. With concentrates that percentage goes up by a lot. We’re talking about concentrated levels of THC at 40% up to 95% when using waxes or shatters. Using concentrates will allow you to use a lot less for a big hit, but it will be a much more intense effect.
Another thing to consider if you are deciding to buy a vape pen for concentrates is whether or not you will have a good, steady supply of concentrates. Buying hash oils in an unregulated market can sometimes be a hit or miss but if you know what to look for then you stand a better chance at getting the good stuff. Stay away from concentrates that are thick, gluey, or brackish as they probably contain the chlorophyll and cuticle waxes from the marijuana plant. Another thing to look out for is oil that seems more like a liquid as that means it has been mixed with cutting agents like polyethylene glycol or propylene glycol, neither of these you want to be vaping.
Your best bet is to choose a hash oil that looks like honey. The other thing that you should do is trust your taste buds. Vaping shouldn’t taste gross. Your taste buds can pick up on a number of chemicals that you shouldn’t be consuming, so if it tastes bad then leave it.
A specific temperature range
An important aspect of choosing a vape pen is whether or not it has an adjustable temperature setting. This may cost a bit more but it is well worth the extra bucks. Vaporizers are able to create different highs because it heats cannabis up to a point where specific cannabinoids evaporate and leaves other things behind. Different compounds in marijuana are released within a specific temperature range. For an example, if you want to get the most CBD in your system then you should be vaporizing at 160-180 degrees Celsius, or 320-356 degrees Fahrenheit, for the CBD cannabinoid to reach its boiling point.
Another reason to opt for a vaporizer with a temperature setting is that preliminary studies have suggested that the hotter your vape battery gets, the more carcinogens you could be inhaling. When the electric coils inside the pen gets too hot then it is just burning the oil instead of vaporizing. Vape pens that have a lower battery volt, like a 3.3-volt was a lot safer than one with over 5 volts.
Vaporizers can be quite costly so you want to do your research on the product before purchasing it. Although vaporizers are expensive, in the long term you will save money because you need to burn less marijuana to get just as high.
